In addition to the features and tools, Photoshop has its own color spaces. The colors a monitor uses display different colors than the colors in an image. An RGB (red, green, blue) color space represents image colors based on the three colors that together make up an RGB pixel. An RGB color space often uses a 4:4:4 pixel arrangement, which means that each pixel contains four bytes of information — data that can have a value of 0 or 1 — that makes up a color.
RGB color spaces are the standard for red, green, and blue. However, an HSV (hue, saturation, value) color space is commonly used for color in a print image. An HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) color space represents a color by the three variables of Hue, Saturation, and Value.
You should understand these color spaces and the capabilities of each before you open a file for editing. The article at the end of the chapter on color offers some tips on working with Photoshop’s color spaces.
As a general rule, Photoshop offers a variety of ways to work with color, including the RGB color space, HSV color space, and CMYK color space. These color spaces are covered in detail in the section on tools, such as the Fill and Adjustments commands. The sections on channels in Chapter 5 can also help you understand how to work with channels, including the Levels command.

How to Edit Images on Photoshop Elements
The first thing to do is confirm that you can use the software’s camera file format. If you can’t use the file type that your camera’s supplied or that your computer system is not compatible with the format, then you may find the import function ineffective.
In order to import a file from your camera’s memory, you will need to use a program that supports.CR2 or.CRW files. The Canon CR2 format is a new format that allows you to edit files directly in your camera’s memory. To import these files you need to use Adobe Photoshop Elements.
If you want to use another software package that supports the.CR2 format, you’ll need to convert your files to the new format. Use the Pixelmator Compressor tool to compress the photos before importing them into Photoshop Elements.
There are other options available too for those who want to use other editing software packages. The open source editing software Gimp supports.CR2 files and so does the Windows-only Pixelmator. However, to import your files into the Gimp or Pixelmator you’ll need to use the PhotoFile Format Converter.

After opening your images, you’ll see a number of tools that are similar to the ones you would see in a standard digital photo editor. Of course, we’ve kept a fire going since then, and now there is a huge variety of ways to heat our houses. Electricity is such an amazing technology, but it has always been a constant concern whether or not the electricity is going to be available when we need it. Now, it seems that we are beginning to learn that energy use and conservation are vitally important.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that energy use is always going to be important. It’s never going to go away, and the same problems will always be present. Utilities don’t want to oversubscribe, but we, as consumers, don’t want to be overcharged. The utility companies are in a constant struggle to keep the cost of electricity down without adversely affecting the quality of the service they provide. Whether they are overburdened or underburdened, the problem is that, as a society, we have got to figure out how to reduce our use of electricity and other types of energy.
According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the United States has three major concerns about energy use:
1. Storing enough energy in our national energy supply to meet demand for electrical power and all other energy needs. Energy storage systems that generate electricity in summer can be used during winter months to help meet the peak demand for electrical energy.
