1. 1. As you can see in the preceding image, the Photoshop button on the program’s menu bar, highlighted in the lower-left corner of the window, is Photoshop CS6’s Live Paint tool. You can use this tool on any path (a closed line, like the one here) on an image, although Photoshop CS6 actually uses Live Paint as the default.

Before you can use Live Paint, you need to make sure that you’re working on a path that you intend to edit. The image above was created in Photoshop CS6. A path (the dashed line) was created on a layer. The layer was then converted to a selection. After that conversion, it is possible to use Live Paint to edit that path, as you can see in the next image.

I refer to Live Paint as the default tool because it’s fast. In this case, I simply created a new layer and drew a straight line using the Pen tool. I then used the Live Paint tool to make changes to that line. I also created a second layer and then used the Live Paint tool to edit a path on that layer.

You can use the tool to selectively make changes, as described in the previous image, but you can also use Live Paint to make changes to any selection. To do so, start Live Paint first and then select the tool as described on the previous page. You can always return to the tool without making any changes. If you have made changes to an existing layer, you can always change them.

2. 2. After Live Paint has been selected, choose Edit > Edit Live Paint (or press the L key twice). You can change the properties of a live paint effect in the Options bar, as shown in the previous image. Although you can assign the Live Paint tool’s effects to other tools, I rarely use the features of the Options bar.

My standard tools are the Eraser, the Stroke, the Select, and the Paint bucket.

You can create live paints from selections and from the Paths layer. Remember to use the selection tool to convert any selection you want to live paint. You can also use the Paths layer to create live paints.

You can assign the same effect to one or more tools. For example, if I wanted to assign the same stroke as I did in the previous image, I can hold down the Shift key and choose Stroke when I am selecting tools.

It works as both a standalone application and as an add-on for Photoshop, the most popular digital image editing software.

Photoshop is free software used by millions of people to edit and create photographs, paintings, logos, videos and other graphic content. Photoshop workflows are used by graphic designers to design more detailed images, web designers for web and user interface design, and photographers for creating powerful photographs.

To read more about editing in Photoshop, see my Photoshop Elements Guide.

The essential Photoshop features are:

A large variety of tools for editing and creating images

A simple user interface that makes Photoshop easy to use

Photoshop allows you to easily edit any of the thousands of colors available in the software. Millions of photographers are using Photoshop to create images like this every day:

Photoshop also provides tools for image enhancement, like image sharpening.

The Photoshop PSD file format

PSD files are universal and human-readable for designers and editors. A PSD is a file format that is built into Photoshop and is one of the most common image file formats. This format stores vector and bitmap data.

All layers in a Photoshop document are saved in a PSD file, except if you save the file as a JPEG or TIFF (transparency is lost). Photoshop imports a PSD file but also allows you to directly open an existing PSD file in Photoshop.

You can open a PSD file in a separate window or a tab in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, which are both free software.

See this article for more information on using PSD files.

Adobe Photoshop Scripts

Adobe Photoshop Scripts are small programs that run within the Adobe Creative Suite of software. One Photoshop script is available for Photoshop and Elements. Most Photoshop scripts are used for automating common tasks, like resizing images, as well as creating new features.

Photoshop scripting is different from scripting in a programming language, like JavaScript. Photoshop scripting can only be done in Photoshop, not in a web browser or any other application.

Scripting languages are unfamiliar to many people, but Adobe continues to improve their learning curve, although you can only access some of the features of Photoshop through scripting.

See this article for more information on using Photoshop scripts, and here for information on scripting for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.

Modern mobile communication networks (e.g., such as cellular networks) use many different techniques for improving data transmission, such as data compression. One of the most well-known and widely used methods for reducing data transmission is scalable video coding (SVC). With SVC, the spatial and the temporal data is compressed in several layers (or hierarchies) where each layer is associated with a resolution (e.g., a different level of data resolution). For example, a base layer has a very high resolution (e.g., an HD resolution), and upper layers have a progressively reduced resolution. For example, the base layer can have a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, and one of the upper layers can have a resolution of 720×480 pixels. A receiver can use the base layer to reconstruct a low-quality image, and use the upper layers to reconstruct a higher-quality image. The upper layers have reduced amount of data compared to the base layer. Accordingly, the receiver can quickly receive and decode the video data without requiring a lot of bandwidth. before and after this year’s parliamentary elections,” said Poonam Khetrapal Singh, a hotel manager at the Saharanpur hotel. “If BJP does not support the cause of farmers in this country, we will not support BJP.”

Farmers in Bhind also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, complaining that the party wasn’t fulfilling its promise to support the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Modi assured them he would take up their cause. A visit in August to Bhind by Swami Agnivesh, a former BJP member and founder of the People’s Vigilance Committee, and activist Vinita Bali may have helped, at least in the eyes of farmers.

On Saturday, just before the CBI registered the murder case against Mafatlal and the case progressed, the Congress emerged as the single-largest party in a by-election for the Bhind seat in the state assembly. A farmers’ party, the Loktantrik Morcha (National Loktantrik Party), entered in alliance with the Congress in the election for all nine seats in the district.

Opponents of the powerful Adani group have organised protests of their own.

Adani Power’s influence on farmers and politicians has been seen in other parts of India, too. In 2013, a gang of 12 farmers from West Bengal, including one woman and

Does Akka’s ActorSystem have to be stopped after all child actors are stopped?

I’m implementing a system with two “companies” that communicate via “corporations”.
After a company is deleted, all actors in the group corresponding to that company need to be stopped.
I’m using Akka’s ActorSystem, with the following code:
val system = ActorSystem(“system”)
val company = system.actorOf(Props(new Company(system)), “company”)

Now, as for the acompany, when it is stopped, the value of system is still “company”:
val oldCompany = system.actorOf(Props(new Company(system)), “company”)

Is this behavior correct? Should I call system.shutdown() on the last line?
public class Company(system: ActorSystem) extends Actor {
def receive = {
case f: funcion =>
if (…..) {
case _ =>

If you have any child actors (or expect any to be created during application of the Props), then the Context must be restarted (this is a requirement in Akka anyway, as it’s a wrapper around the Java Event Bus). If you want to reuse a Context after stopping a child actor then you need to either keep a reference to it, or pass it to the ActorSystem that has the Context. ActorSystem.stop() takes an ActorRef as a parameter, so you can pass in the currently running child actor that you want to stop.
Since stopping the child actor can result in the Context being re-initialized you have to be sure to save off any ActorRefs for later before stopping the actor (i.e. as soon as you get the Context back from it you should stop the actor).
